Merit San Diego Community Managers Chapman and Webb Win 2011 Vision Awards from the California Association of Community Managers - 8/9/2011

Managers win in Creative Solutions and Physical Management categories

San Diego, CA, August 9, 2011 — Merit Property Management, a FirstService Residential Management company, announced today that San Diego Community Managers Chelsey Chapman and Karen Webb were presented with Vision Awards by the California Association of Community Managers (CACM) for excellence in their field. The Vision Award ceremony was held on July 28th, 2011 at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, CA.

Merit's Community Director at Eastlake III, Chelsey Chapman, received the "Creative Solutions Level II" award for bringing sustainable options to her community that cut costs. She used creativity to find solutions that matched the association's needs for increased savings and decreased the amount of gas, energy and water the community uses on an annual basis.

Merit's General Manager at Discovery at Cortez Hill General Manager, Karen Webb, received the "Physical Management Level I" award for her work leading the Discovery at Cortez Hill HOA through major building repairs which included the replacement of two cooling towers. This $600,000 project replaced two evapco cooling towers and completed a lighting retrofit that has reduced the community's electricity bill from $20,000 per month to $10,000-$11,000, saving approximately $120,000 a year.

"Vision Awards represent the highest honor in the community association industry and we are proud to be recognized by the California Association of Community Managers," stated Melinda Masson, Founder and CEO of Merit. "Chelsey and Karen are prime examples of managers who continue to go above and beyond to provide only the best service for our communities throughout San Diego."
