Merit Orange County Staff Assist Local FamiliesTeam collected 60 Thanksgiving Meals

For more than 31 years, Merit's Orange County team has worked together to fight hunger and assist local families in need during the holidays. Throughout November, Merit's Orange County office as well as the Ladera Ranch, SAMLARC and Talega teams collected enough food and money to donate 60 complete Thanksgiving dinners. Half of the complete meals were purchased by Merit staff and then a local Brownie Troop used the money donated by Merit staff to purchase the additional 30 meals. Merit donated all 60 meals to the Boys & Girls Club of Aliso Viejo, an organization which assists families throughout Orange County and enables young people to reach their full potential as responsible citizens. The children assembled the meals which were then distributed to families in need throughout Orange County.

During December, Merit's Orange County team works in conjunction with Human Options, a battered women's shelter in Orange County, to fulfill "wish lists" for families in need throughout the local area. If you would like to donate any holiday items, please contact your local community manager.

Supporting Deployed U.S. Troops with Care PackagesThe Orange County team gathers commonly requested items for marines in action

With loved ones recently deployed to Iraq, Merit's Orange County team adopted a Marine unit in Iraq. The team is collecting items to create care packages that will be sent to the troops after the holidays. This particular unit is currently in action, therefore MERIT's team is packing care packages with the most commonly requested items. Popular items were t-shirts, socks, toiletries, games, small canned fruits and snacks, recent DVD's, small new toys for the children they meet, and magazines related to sports, hunting, fishing and cars/bikes.

Please contact your community manager if you are interested in sending any of the requested items to the Marine unit in Iraq.
